Although there have been huge awareness campaigns surrounding it, fines imposed for doing it and news stories about the fall out from it, there are still a large number of drivers using their mobile phones while they are operating a vehicle.
We know the risks and repercussions, but would you still do it?
Well a recent study, suggests that a large number of us do. A recent study of 14,00 motorists uncovered the fact that more people drove whilst using their mobile between 2008 and 2009 compared with the figure in 2006. Interestingly the fixed penalty was increased in 2007, from £30, and so the increase in usage suggests the increased fine hasn't acted as a deterrent, leading to many suggesting that the penalty should be increased.
Road safety campaigners in particular have called for the fine to be increased to £1,000 for using a handheld phone whilst driving.
Aside from the study, the use of hands-free mobiles by car drivers quadrupled from 1.2 per cent in 2006 to 4.8 per cent last year, which could either suggest more drivers are using these instead of holding their phones, or that more drivers overall are using their phones in the car.
Whatever the reason for these changes, and whatever the chances of getting caught, the real issue here is road safety and there is no two ways about it- using the phone whilst driving, whether you use hands free or not, disrupts concentration and could lead to an accident.

SMS Marketing - The Better Way of Communication by Kathe Marion
Mobile marketing has become one of the hottest choice for most of the leading companies. Even the newer business concerns are showing a lot of interest in this latest technology of marketing strategy. This not only helps in making a large scale but also it is the cheapest and less time consuming way of communicating with your customers. If you are a mobile user then you must be aware of the fact that you receive some SMS each or in some days interval telling you about the various new product launch.
This a much preferred way of communication by the various companies as SMS is a much more discreet method than telephonic conversation. And this is also a great tool to make your customers aware of the new launches without disturbing them. This is also less time consuming in comparison to any telephonic conversation. Therefore if you are using SMS marketing strategy instead of phone call or email you need not spend a lot of time in making the customer understand what you want to say and even sometimes disturbing him. It is even better than instant messaging and email, therefore you need not stay connected to the computer all the time.
There are several advantages of SMS marketing. As it is considered to be a spam free mode of communication in comparison to email, the delivery of your message is more certain than an email which may land up as a junk mail. However, because of the store and forward service of the SMS, the message does not go directly to the client's cell phone. In this case the advantage is that there is no need for the client's cell phone to be active or in range for you to send the message. The message gets stored in the SMSC for days if necessary, and is delivered only when the cell phone is turned on or gets into the range. Therefore because of these reasons it is almost certain that your message would be successfully delivered to your client sooner or later. This is also a very special reason for which SMS is a much preferred technique of marketing these days.
Not only this but there are also some other advantages of SMS marketing strategy. And that is in the form of Bulk Short Message Service. The Bulk SMS service is a very useful thing for every company. There are also several advantages of it. In the first case the company can easily issue immediate alerts to their employees about the emergencies and critical situations. It is also useful in delivering any updates or messages to roaming employees, such as sales people or technicians on the road. The Bulk SMS service also helps in sending important information to key customers or suppliers, with almost the assurance that they would receive the information immediately. On the other hand the company can also send greetings to their clients and suppliers on various festivals or other occasions.
Therefore it is easily presumable how advantageous the bulk SMS service is to the several companies. Because of this better communication technology the company can communicate with the people related to them any time necessary.
